Default Big Lake Sunday

Fished Big Lake this AM. Launched at Calcasieu Point and began drifting Turner's Bay. No luck and water chalky to muddy. Winds W at 8-12. Moved South along the West bank. Muddy water again and no bait sighted. Moved to Long Point and found the same muddy water conditions. Thought about heading SE but decided against it as the winds were forecast to get to 10-15 by mid morning and did not want to fight the waves headed back. Came around 9 mile and headed up channel to 69 bouy and fished the marshes for reds. Nada. Headed to the rocks near Joe's cove South entrance and again, nada. Headed to LNG and found nice water. Picked up a couple RAT reds but nothing else. Headed to the launch at 10:30. Tide slowly dropped most of the morning.

Did manage to enjoy the trip though, as this was the first time in Big Lake this year. Boat ran well and all systems are go for next trip.

Tight lines to all....

Thinking of going Monday morning but wondering if the muddy water will clear. The winds Monday are not forecast to be as bad. Any ideas of where the water should clear up first?

A few days back..........East side to mid-lake had better water [~ 12+" visability] than S - SW or West.....all had ~ 6" visability.

East side of West Cove was also a little muddy.....~ 6" visablity.

Default almost forgot

When I was returning to Calcasieu Point landing I saw to the West just in front of and a bit south of Global industries a crew boat/supply boat of some sorts spraying very dark, muddy water out of 2 water canons. I don't know what this was but it sure must not be good for water clarity in the channel. It sprayed for the entire time I was hanging out waiting for the truck and then still was spraying as we left the launch.

Any ideas?

Didn't fish today but got a couple of email's that sum pickle trout caught today by two different boats. From I-10bridge to the south bouy heading to the port. They said best bite was when tide was coming in.

They have to test run their fire pump engines and monitors.
I seen them do it a lot in Cameron and Grand Chenier.

What's up. New to the site as of today. Been fishing the lake about 3 years, married into the waters. Still haven't figured it out. It's one thing to know all the spots, its another to catch fish at them.

Went out today(bad idea) to scratch the itch. 1 speck 1 red and 1 flounder. The triple play. All in West Cove. Found some really good water around the island.
