Mr. Davids first black drum
Hello fellow anglers. What a windy day on the water at the beach but still made a great trip with a wonderful couple in for a visit form their transplanted home in Florida. Mr. David and his lovely wife Mrs. Paula were in New Orleans for a vacation, some sight seeing and to take in some of the great jazz events going on in the crescent city right now and also wanted to get into some of the great fishing experiences that Shell Beach is so famous for.
After a small communication mishap we hooked up and I picked the lovely couple up at the historic Roosevelt hotel for the ride to the dock. When we arrived at the dock we were greetd by a strong west wind and low dirty water but that did'nt stop the hungry fish from biting and that they were. We caught reds drums and flounder from the first cast (which Mr. David caught a beautiful flounder) until the last the action wasn't fast and furious but it was steady. All fish today were caught on market shrimp 2 feet under a rattling cork but we tried live minnows which on Sunday had produced a good number of fat trout but today Nada, as a matter of a fact we didn't even catch a single speckled trout were we caught a good mess of them just the day before. The couple wanted to practice catch and release so we caught and released and captured pictures for Mrs. Paula's collection, well over our limits of red fish and black drums and a few nice flounders mixed in just for a little variety.
All in all we had a great outdoor adventure and caught plenty of fish and a great time laughing and and visiting and reminiscing about Mr. David's previous visit during the Katrina clean up effort. On our drive to the dock Mr. David was in shock to how much devastation still exists in the lower ninth ward but was glad to see how much the surrounding area had bounced back from such a devastating storm.
The fishing continues to be outstanding in Shell Beach Louisiana and if you would like to enjoy some of the rod bending action going on right now and in the future give me a call or drop me an email I'd love to take you and yours fishing.
Our motto is RAIN OR SHINE SLEET OR SNOW IF YOU COME WE WILL GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks Capt. Ron
