I have a 36 volt 101lb MK trolling motor and need to change the 3 batteries. I'm interested in what brand everyone uses.
Thanks. Josh |

I just put 3 agms from batteries plus. It's a lot of money to put out but they have 5 year free replacement warranty

I've looked at them, but the thought of spending over $800 on 4 batteries with the cranking one is hard swallow!!
Thanks. |

Charge them as soon as you get off the water, keep the cells full if it's a wet cell, and top of the charge before going fish. |

DON'T: Do not keep them on concrete as this will kill the cells. Do not let the batteries get dirty, dirt/dust will drain a battery over night. DO'S Use a battery maintainer like the prosport 20 Use an anti corrosion spray or gel to keep the posts clean and in good shape Good luck |

Most batteries in the US are made by Delphi, Exide, and Johnson Controls. They just put private labels for individual companies. Interstate is made by Johnson Controls the same company that makes Optima, Diehard, Duralast, and Everstart.

Lots of companies make products with different labels but not the same quality. It's about market share. |

The battery on concrete deal doesn't apply anymore. With modern plastics batteries are made of this no longer exists. This applies to batteries made decades ago when the case was permeable by the acids and electrolysis would occur across the cells.
Dirt and dust will not drain the battery. It is the acid on top that condensates on top while charging that shorts out across the poles. Make sure to clean the top so this shorting between poles does not occur. Last edited by kibb; 03-13-2014 at 12:17 PM. |
