Default Rainbow trout rodeo

BREC sponsored a free fishing rodeo this morning at Greenwood park in baker La. My son won a nice shakespear spinning combo and a $20 d i c k s sporting goods certificate for biggest trout. we also won a plaque and trophy for 2nd place in most fish.
Another rodeo tomorrow afternoon to see if we can bring home some more swag.

Congrats on tournament win.
I travel to BR for work and would like to give Rainbow trout fishing a try but don't have a clue how to fish them. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use the smallest Rapala crankbaits and inline spinners.
Rapala countdown minnows CD5 due to CD 7 to big.
I like Rapala due to their lures have weight to get the lure out there.
Now they love the small rebel minnows over rapala's in Arkansas shad.
Just the rebel lighter and I do some modifications to get it to work right without losing
tight wiggle.
Sometimes the stocking of the trout get the bass going in the pond.
Here is a pic of a bass and trout I caught a few years ago in the North Sherwood Brec pond.

Son caught a nice bass the other day while we were catching trout.
The other thing i have noticed, one of the big ponds they stocked has some real big sac a lait in it. when they stock the trout the sac a lait shut down. This happened 2 years ago and this year within 3 days of the trout being stocked.

It stirs up bass
Scaliat seem to shut down
Only time I caught scaliat is when it was cold rainy Jan day. The trout shut down. Did small flying bugs look like Mosquitos but wasn't.
Put a small mosquito lure on betts plug used for throwing flyfishing lures. I slammed the scaliat for two hours out same spot.
That only time I caught scaliat in a brec pond after they stocked trout.

Shhhhhh! #10 or #12 black wooly bugger on sink tippet or same size bead eye in black or brown . when they were first stocked it was nothing to C&R 50 in just a short while at forrest park. The park in zachary is producing on the same stuff.
the fish i have been cleaning from zachary are full of brown snails just a bit bigger than a BB

Congrats Bob.
We used to catch some nice sacs in Greenwood Park.

Probly try the trout in Katy one day in the next couple weeks. TPW stocks em every 3 weeks or so in several ponds in the Houston area.

the ponds that are stocked are greenwood park in baker .
Forrest park on harrels ferry rd. B.R.
the pond at the burbank soccer complex B.R
zachary community park in zachary.
Fly fishing is probably best at zachary and forrest park.
Forrest is probably getting close to being fished out. (very small pond).
The soccer complex and green wood are larger ponds / lakes and it seems the trout have gone to the middle and can't be reached from the bank.
you can put a yak / canoe / bateau w/ trolling motor only in Greenwood park lake.
the rest are bank fishing only. the parks open at sunrise and close at dark.
