![]() I'm a newbie and got the fever a month ago when I started going down to Delacroix and catching some reds and specks. Can anyone point me to any place (marsh) closer to Baton Rouge where I can get the same or better fishing. That 2 1/2 hour drive can get old in a hurry. |

Lake Charles is 2 hours to the west. 20 more minutes and you can get to Big Lake.
We have some very good fishing over here. |

chalmette has some good marsh fishing, as does hopedale
chalmette is about an hour 10 and hopedale is an hour and a half. i fish both place very heavily, pm me |

if your new to saltwater fishing or fishing in general id say hopedale , it takes me 1.5 hrs to get the from br i just dont see how it takes you2.5hrs to get to delacroix maybe you drive like ASR from this site

Chef pass, lake borgne , lake Catherine.... All have marsh and alot of cuts, sloughs to fish.
Easy areas to learn and good fishin. |

pearl river, I've been catching everything and its a lot closer to baton rouge then hopedale and delacroix, but I rather drive to catch more then gamble wasting my time somewhere I might not catch fish!
