Hey Montauk,

What's the deal with the cove area and trout? I've tried fishing it in my kayak and I've seen a dozen boats out there in the winter, but on my depth finder it just seems like a huge flat area about 8' deep. Is it an oyster reef or something like that? I am admittedly new to fishing so the fact that it's not very deep and doesn't change much puzzles me.

I'd love to have more luck at Cypremort point since it is the shortest drive for me.

There is a few reefs in the area....baitfish and good water is the main thing that brings in the trout. Tough fishing on the weekends with all the boats coming out of the boat launch canal.

Me too...just wish the bay stayed salty year round. Much nicer than pulling the boat 200 miles to big lake. Can't wait to sling some fat yellowmotts once we get some cool fronts.
