I made a trip to CAMERON PRAIRIE 3 days after those arrest to get me an easy limit of shrimp. After 4 hours of throwing my 5' cast net......I had about 12 # of 15 to 25 count shrimp. There was about a dozen other boats catching a few shrimp.

I was thinking the gallon was for bait shrimp only, when the shrimp season is closed.

Cast netting Each person is required to have valid basic and saltwater licenses to cast net for shrimp. Cast nets must be less than 8.5 feet in radius. Recreational cast netting for shrimp is only permitted during the Louisiana inshore water shrimp season. See refuge specific regulations for additional information. The daily shrimp limit during the Louisiana inshore shrimp season is five gallons of headson shrimp per day, per vehicle or boat. The daily bait shrimp limit is one gallon per day per boat, outside the Louisiana inshore shrimp season and before noon during the inshore shrimp season on Sabine. |
