We have a 2001 model just like this and love it!
One of the main reasons I have not began looking at buying a new rig is because this motor runs so good it would be very hard to get rid of it.

As Montauk said every motor needs routine maintenance.
Everytime our mechanic comes to do routine maintenance on it he tells us to let him know first if we ever want to sale it. Apparently they are much easier to work on then the newer yamahas.

This motor has never let us down and we trust it enought to bring us 40 miles offshore.

It pushes our 19' DeepV Mako and runs 36 mph loaded down. We have a 4 blade prop on it though.

Getting approx 2.5 mpg loaded down cruising at 25 mph in a 1' - 2' chop.
