Default Teaching the 6 year old...

Maybe some of the road scholars on here can help me.
Why is the nickel coin larger than the dime?
My 6 year old asked me we were going thru quarters, dimes, pennies, and so on.

Random ? Didn't google it waiting on the SaltyCajun brotherin for help!!!

Thanks!

Originally it had to do with the value of the metal in the coin. The nickel had a lot of nickel in it but the dime had a large part of silver in it. therefore the dime was worth twice as much but was smaller.

My son (6 years old in first grade) comes home every Monday with his test from the previous week. His language test last week was on nouns and verbs. He had to write 3 of each. His 3 nouns were Bazooka, 22 caliber and M-16, his 3 verbs were shoot, stad, and fart. The teacher corrected stad and added an n in it to make stand....he told his teacher I was not trying to write stand I was trying to write stab.

I can only imagine what the teacher was thinking when she grade his paper!
