Default Raising outboard on transom

I have an optimax 225 that I would like to raise 1 notch on the transom of my bay boat. Does anyone have any experience raising a motor this size by themselves or am I going to have to have a professional do this. I've done it with a yamaha before, but the transom mounting bracket was slotted so I was able to slide it up with a jack. The mercury bracket only has holes and I don't think it can be done the same was as the yamaha.

I have used the power trim and a couple of big buddies to do this in my younger days ...

If in doubt, find a hoist rated for the task at hand ...

Safety first !

Undo 3 bolts, and rotate the motor. Make sense?

should have lift eyes under the cowling. If you have access to some sort of hoist or lift, it shouldn't be a problem. you'll need something rated over 500lbs.. I'd go 750lbs to be on the safe side.

put your tongue jack all the way down, block your motor, or tie lift eye to an overhead beam, loosen and remove bolts, jack tongue up to level bolt hole you want and reinstall bolts

That is thinking out side the box.

AND.....if you are still 1/2 inch off......let some air out of the trailers tires.

Or.......you can buy a come-a-long from Harbor Freight for under $ 20 and use it to lift your motor.

I have done a few like that not adad at all just take your time. I would tie it back to the eyes of the boat for a safety factor.
