Saw a huge eagle today on I49 about 50 miles south of Shreveport around mile marker 150 on the south bound side. He was eating a dead animal on the side of the road. I have seen them in Toledo Bend and saw one off of the Lake Ponchatrain bridge once. They are starting to spread out in Louisiana pretty good apparently.

Yeah. They are all over the state now. The atchafalaya basin has a large population. And I always see them down hwy 90 towards Houma also. |

I saw one on I-10 not far east of Lake Charles a few weeks ago. You don't realize just how big they are until you see them in person.

I see them at my house everyday
There is a dead cypress tree in the swamp just off if my property line. They use it to ambush the fish in my pond. |

Usually have a pair winter near my duck lease in Cheneyville. If one gets anywhere near a flock of geese or ducks they will up and run 'quick fast in a heartbeat'!

Last year we saw an immature Bald eagle hit a specklebelly but he wasn't able to hold onto it and the speck flew away. We also saw a pair of bald eagles do the "death spiral" which I understand is part of their pair bonding.

In the last few years I've seen two bald eagles in the Carlyss area and saw one in the Fields area this past spring. I also saw two caracara(Mexican buzzards) in the Carlyss area recently. The caracaras are pretty neat looking too.
