B4 there was a thought about salty cajun i was a member of another forum that was great. We did a charity tourney every year just like the one last weekend .
But other times of the year we would get together for what we called a Bungle.
Was a fishin tourney ,But w/o all the prizes and sponsors.
Mostly we got together for the party and to fish . We were fishing for bragging rights and just to have a great time and have some good food.
IMHO, This would be the best way to do the tourney thing here on salty cajun.
Have one major tourney every year for the charity fund and a few more in different places just as a good time.
that way we are not asking our sponsors and others that donate to help out the cause every few months.
I missed the Big lake tourney but i plan to make any more that come up .
Lets just get together as a group and fish the island and toledo bend and false river and lets keep the focus once a year on one really big blowout for the charity. again JMHO! Bob
What say the members?

That is what I have been thinking. Maybe we could all throw in a few bucks for the Charity still and have a seperate side pot and bragging rights for the winner. I go on three small fishing trips with podnahs every year. Toledo, Big Lake and then another in some new place, this year GI...

The bass tournament is going to be a get-together tournament, not charity.

Small little get together to catch green trout!

May /June / july are all good.
I like late may /early june.
July and august can be brutal from the heat ,even when standing waist deep in the surf.

fished a bass club for years.
we fished once a month for a brass tag with our wieght on it.
top three places and big bass. Likely cost a buck a piece.

the brother hood was way more important.

As soon as we tried to add "more" we broke apart.

maybe one "big" fundraiser event and the others a bragging right.
like a corner of the home page of Salty cajun with your mug picture and the winning wieght............

Good idea eman

That's the great thing about the island.
There are motel rooms for 2 up to camps that sleep 30.
None of them are cheap in the summer.
When we get a little more planning on a grand isle trip i will make some calls and see what is available.
I have a friend to stay with ( real cheap).
But just remember that you CAN NOT wait untill a week or two b4 you want to fish to book rooms or camps in G.I. in the summer time.
There are only 3 or 4 marinas where you can leave the boat in the water and they book up fast.

I'm down for any get together, whether its fishing or just eating and hanging out. As long as I am not offshore, you can count me in.

Every get-together certainly shouldn't be a fundraiser, but I expect there will be 2-3 large ones per year that are. Smaller one-off tourneys are fine also. Organize one and go do it. Don't gripe about how the others are run if you don't want to step up and take the bull by the horns yourself, or even show up at the ones that are organized as forum-sponsored events. The large forum-sponsored events will have a fundraising basis, but anyone can organize a smaller tourney on their own.
